I think my 'old' box might be used for this purpose. It needs a fat hard drive and some RAM and it'll be an alright server. It is only running a 2.2ghz celeron, but it'll get by on that. That should be a good start, in the end your not playing the game on this computer/(server to be) so its not so intence on the computer. however even though i turned up late to #5 and actually didn't play i was kinda dispointed about how long it took for things to get up and going. Has anyone approched any computer stores in the area for exclusive sale rights or sponsership??? this may help get you more income, onboard support & products to help run the venue or at least the help you need in getting sticklan productive & professional.

That should be a good start, in the end your not playing the game on this computer/(server to be) so its not so intence on the computer. I feel that the chip will be insufficient for high-numbers games like vietcong and such. however even though i turned up late to #5 and actually didn't play i was kinda dispointed about how long it took for things to get up and going. This should be resolved next LAN. I'll rig my boxen to run dedicated games, and hopefully then new shiny games have decent dedicated games. I would very much like to enlist John to get BF1942: Desert Combat with the la-*test*-('") version. That was fatastic for dedicated and playing with planes. Has anyone approched any computer stores in the area for exclusive sale rights or sponsership??? Yes, and they aren't interested until we get 200+ people, which will be a feat in of itself.

why is it that my opinion is not wanted but my games are, "I would very much like to enlist John to get BF1942: Desert Combat with the la-*test*-('") version" Ask Whitey (Admin) As for the "they aren't interested until we get 200+ people" GIGABIT Spend some money and don't say these LANs are just for fun, if it was just for fun it would be free entry and we would be somewhere in Gissy.

cabana bob- 01-19-2006

damb skippy mate, so what happend to the special forces disks we LENT out to people, we had 2 we now have none

Paradoxian- 01-19-2006

why is it that my opinion is not wanted but my games are, "I would very much like to enlist John to get BF1942: Desert Combat with the la-*test*-('") version" Ask Whitey (Admin) Because there is a difference in opinion with regards to your opinion being useful . I'll see you tomorrow and have a chat about it all. free entry and we would be somewhere in Gissy. What makes Gissy fun? We didn't approach the stores in this fashion, we tried to get them by saying that there will be 60-80 people in attendance, but they either couldn't afford to offer anything, or didn't want any part of it.

whiteman- 01-20-2006

And how the hell would we be able to afford a place in gissy just for fun if there was free entry ???????? With the small attendace that we get there is not much of a chance of getting a computer store to help us out ( trust me we have try'd ALOT ) and as tim said unless we get 200+ ppl that wont happen

Ghost- 01-20-2006

With the small attendace that we get there is not much of a chance of getting a computer store to help us out ( trust me we have try'd ALOT ) and as tim said unless we get 200+ ppl that wont happen well about getting in the good books with PC store by giving them free advert at your venues, or dropping there name around to help with getting there interest? in the end it a business and for those companies who are saying 200+ before there interested aren't worth the time. they will never be interested. there are to many many PC stores in the area to turn this opportunity down, maybe if Stick Lan was a bit more proffessional & organised this get them interested.

whiteman- 01-20-2006

we have offered to several stores if they want we will put up banners or adverts for them at the lans, and none are interested, and we arnt trying to make it professional and the organisation is resonable concidering most of us work full time, and have other committments, Sticklan #5 was a stuff up with games as it was over looked ( previously we had had set times for games and what not ) but this time it just slipped our minds, Sticklan #6 will be alot better in that case as we have several servers in the making so then we will have them running dedicated games, Which means an end to people having to host them them selfs

Ghost- 01-20-2006

Sticklan #6 will be alot better in that case as we have several servers in the making so then we will have them running dedicated games, Which means an end to people having to host them them selfs you've talk #6 up alot so far with what you have planned and wish to do. i'll be interested to see how it goes but i ask for 1 simple thing, please try to post a game schedule (if you are running one) also there versions a week or 2 prior to the event which will save time with poeple....eg SPAWN buring copies of games and then people installing/dupping whatever. preperations is the key, Tim can't be expected to do everthing, even JC had followers.

whiteman- 01-20-2006

yea dont worry its in the pipeline, as i said 2lans ago there was one but being only human it was over looked And dont worry tim isnt expected to do every thing, just like im not its a joint effort that all committie members take on, But there is only 4 of us so far Sticklan #6 and ull see, Ill even spend my own money( if i got it ) to get the servers up and going

cabana bob- 01-20-2006

man, if you want a hand with getting things going, all you gotta do is ask some of us gamers, we will be more than happy to help

whiteman- 01-20-2006

Ok well the main thing we need is parts for servers, so if any one has any thing that they can part with ( any thing from DDR ram to case's to a mouse or keyboard ) that what we really need at the moment for the servers

Spawn- 01-22-2006

guys the computers you use to game with are fine to uses a servers if you run games like bf1942 bfv and fear the ded. servers they use should be fine to host and game at the same time (Ded. servers is console based) the ded. servers doesn't need alot of system to run

Paradoxian- 01-22-2006

preperations is the key, Tim can't be expected to do everthing, even JC had followers. I can heal the sick and come back from the dead, but damned if I can get PC games to play...

cabana bob- 01-22-2006

so JC, i mean tim i was wondering, when turning water into wine do you go for a merlot, shiraz or maybe a cab sav. and what vintage is it?
