||StickLAN|| - LAN costs and where we go from here
I gather the $15 option is without council support hence the lessened obligation to crack down on file sharing? I think getting the council involved is a good thing, they help us we get kids off the street. :P

yeh i reckon it would be good to get the council in and just hav smaller LAN to get new games and stuff

ScuBBa stEvE- 05-02-2005

AHHAHAHAHAH SEAN'S not aloud to download hhehehheheheh :), but he does have a good point there :D

Well there is another option, but it is harder to pull off. Since the hall hire won't change in the woodend community centre, the more people the better. If we can ensure 60 gamers are in attendance each lan, we can happily run it at $10- per person. We'll most likely throw the next lan at $10- per person, and see what numbers we get. The hall hire is likely to be a little shy of $300. The extra cash will go towards stickLAN assets, such as gigabit switches, cabling, and a PHAT server! Extra money will also be used to make the event more efficient and fun. The end goal is to have areas set up with a four-board of power per gamer, and a CAT5 cable next to it. Put down your rig, plug in, and you should be away. Also, the lans should involve me making waffles, but I need MORE WAFFLE IRONS!!! come forth if you know you can get your hands on a waffle iron for a day or so!

Locky, be nice to the concil now ay? But i do agree with you, and Tim just to be nitty picky, lets make that CAT6 for everyone not CAT5. i want to use my gigabit lan ooh yes i do i do i do...

whiteman- 05-06-2005

its just like comparing a VN Series 2 motor to a VP motor its all the same shit but yes gigabit lan would be a nice thing

Paradoxian- 05-08-2005

dear god, I don't think a 24 port switch is needed. If we got one it would be a 16 port gigabit switch and it would be the 1st tier switch. The server would plug into it, along with whatever file servers exist at the time.

whiteman- 05-09-2005

as long as i count as file server :P ok we need to maybe look at some sponcership ( and also some one to teach me to spell ) and i can also get prices for a switch through work as im sure we can get it cheaper but if we get council on board it will help a lil

Paradoxian- 05-09-2005

ok we need to maybe look at some sponcership ( and also some one to teach me to spell ) I was about to say...

CronDaemour- 05-10-2005

:) happy with the obvious locky? stop your whinning.... Go gigabit all the way, of course it wont be anytime soon, it is an inevitable change. Give it another year and gigabit lan is stock standard anyway.

Griff- 08-30-2005

make it $15 i mean if people dont come because of a fucking measly $5 then there cheep asses with shit computers and are fucking noobs. i say make it $20 and get capital up faster, the faster you get the shit you need the faster we can have it at a lower price. and dont get the council involved they will be a pain in the ass. and get some fund raisers, im sure the comp shop in woodend would be willing to help with sponsership if they saw a increase in sales from a direct relation to us

leech- 08-31-2005

While were at it lets just make ppl pay $50 to get in the door then another $15 for a seat maybe an extra $5 for a table then make them pay by the hour.... Think of the $$$$$$ ==OMGWTFBBQ==

Griff- 08-31-2005

no $20 will do 60 people at $20 dollars a head = $1200 $1200 = enough capital to make the following LAN's $10 entry fee. so lets see how often are these LAN's every 3 months if you cant scrape together $20 in 3 months then you need to get off your fat arse and get a job. no need to be a sarcastic mofo ffs.

Griff- 08-31-2005

also other LAN's around the state charge $20 entry fee sucka

Paradoxian- 08-31-2005

also other LAN's around the state charge $20 entry fee sucka It's is mainly about those LANs giving out PHAT prizes, which we don't have the capital for. If we had 200 gamers, it could happily be done. We can't get 200 gamers until we get a suitable hall, which is pretty much going to need to be made.
