||StickLAN|| 6 - Games List Hello boys and girls, it's time to announce the games and versions that will be played at ||StickLAN|| #6. We'll aim to provide the patches needed for everyone to play these games, however the quickest way to get this to you all is via data DVDs being sent around the room, and the patches that are needed to be copied off the disc. Anyway, here are the games:
Battlefield 2 v1.3
You have all seen it, or heard about it, and it must be played! There have been some noises that people won't be able to run it due the having an old box, but I strongly recommend that you look into upgrading for this game. v1.3 has been reported to have problems with online games, but reports indicate that a fresh install with the v1.00 -> v1.3 patch is perfectly fine for LAN play. The previous patch out was v1.22, you can find the v1.22 -> v1.3 patch HEREUnreal Tournament 2004 v3369
UT2004 is an old game now, but it's still a great FPS game. The guns are silly, and is a nice break from BF2, where you actually have to care about your teammates. There are some interesting game types that I hope to keep you all amused with for hours!
Rune
I can't figure out what version of the game we'll be running, but we'll get all the pathes that are needed for people to run the game. This game sees you take control of a fighter from a 3rd-person perspective, and beat the crap out of the other players. A game is only fun when you can taunt your opponent with his own head that you recently pulled off his body...
Counter Strike
I believe it is protocol 7 that we with be running, as we can then work around the Steam empire. We'll have the patches you need to run the game, don't you worry. I don't think I need to tell you what this game is about, as it is an ancient game... but strangely still loved by all...
Call of Duty 2
Love it or hate it, we're going to play it at some point or another. We'll be running v1.2, which is a tiny patch of around 30MB. COD 2 is COD with shinier graphics, but can be set to run with lower graphics to be enjoyed by all (unless you hate it alot, then you won't).
The plan is to have a bunch of DVDs going around the round that you need to copy/dump the files from onto your hard disc. This way you'll have all the files needed to play the games in this list. I recommend you have a DVD reader and at least 20GB of free hard drive space to avoid any problems.
I am going to create another thread for discussion, and lock this to stop spamming.
