||StickLAN|| 6 - From the drawing board
Hello boys and girls (I believe we have 1 or 2 girls)! I want to keep you all informed about the StickLANs, because they aren't a massive event and do rely on you - the gamers - for your support. Current plans have the June/July school holidays planned for the next LAN. It will either be on the 17th and 18th (first weekend of school holidays) or the 24th and 25th (second weekend of school holidays). Now this might not be a suitable day for most, and it may be better to have the event on a weekday. Post a reply so we can have some input from you all. The venue will *hopefully* be the Tony Clarke Reserve. We're going to have an electrician tweak the power there to accommodate our power needs, and hopefully set us up for bigger future events. Woodend Community Centre is OK, but sucks because other people book it (like Church Groups, grrr!) and the guy doing the bookings is a bit dodgey and 'forgets' to tell us other people have booked the venue as well. I don't annoy him about it, because we're getting the venue for about $200 cheaper than it should be. Now a few people have been on our (the 'admin') arses because of how we run the events. We can't have groups at the LAN with different views on how it will run as the event will tear itself apart from the inside. I'm calling for people to be the Admin with me for the next LAN. Know that this will mean you will only play about 20% of games tops, because you need to make sure everyone is playing nicely. As long as I get to blow a few people up in Serious Sam and fly a helicopter around in Battlefield, I'll be happy. So I really need 3-4 other people to be committed to this idea of Admin. Other than that, we need: A Website. I cannot program or write HTML. Someone who can who is happy to be admin would be my personal hero. Faz and Denman have offered their help already (Faz, you said you could help with website and such. Denman, you said you could help with the network setup), but mainly I need people committed to being admin, and not playing games (you probably won't play games at all). Now this is all on the drawing board, and I/we value your input as it is for you guys. Anything you can add/suggest would be appreciated.
