Pet Hate
Did you know I have a pet hate when I try to organise the StickLANs each event? I do, and I feel it's a pretty petty issue, but you wouldn't believe how much grief it causes. So, I would just like to say the following:EACH PERSON MUST BRING THEIR OWN CAT 5 CABLE TO EACH LAN!!!
Did you know a 10M CAT5 cable is around $9.90 nowdays? You'll use it again and again and is yours to keep! I really would prefer to buy gigabit switches instead of CAT5 cable for the 15 or so people that continually show up without a network cable of any sort.
StickLAN #6 will hopefully be our pilot for the re-jigged power at Tony Clarke Reserve. It wil be in the meeting rooms as it will be just to ensure we have the power we want. if FIVE or more people show up with a computer but without their own CAT5 cable, I'll shut down StickLAN. So when the date of the next LAN is announced, and you tell your friends to come (we rely on you doing so for numbers), ask them to bring a CAT5 cable with them for their own use. If there are 5 out of 40 people who aren't capable of doing so, this whole thing is doomed...
