My Disgust at lanners
Ok as we all know we held a Stick Lan this weekend, and to my UTTER DISGUST we had very few people turn up ( I know some people cant becouse of perants and been on holidays ) but there was several case's where people said they where going to come and just did not show up, I think we had 10 people there most of which where committe members. Befor this LAN, Sticklan had a budget that we where going to spend on things to help improve the lan ( Wireless hubs, gigabyte lan, Prize's ) and becouse we had such a poor turn out now some committie members are out of pocket. We are not in it to make money we are trying to provide a service so then YOU the lanners can have some fun we mates ( and the occasional leeching which we all well love) My self and the other committie members will have to decuse if we are going to hold any more lans if we are going to get such poor turnouts, If we are doing some thing wrong please let us know, We only see so much of what is going wrong at the lans, People need to TELL US so then we can improve on the service. Remember that we spend alot of time and effort to organise lans and we get nothing in return, We have been pushing to get Sponcership from certain stores but they want proof that the lans are going to be worth them spending there money on. So please give us some feedback with what you want to see at lans or what. I am sure other Committie members will add on to this James AKA Whiteman

The hall hire of $250 got paid this morning. The venue for next LAN can be booked for Dec/Jan/Feb, but we'll want to make sure you're not all on holidays. If you know of a trip you are going on, please tell us here.

well, i think you guys also need to tell more people in sunbury as well (seeing as i was the only one from there that night :P). also ive you need a loan of a wireless AP, ive got a wrt54g that you can use. same goes with a celeron 2ghz, if you need it as a spare file server, decated box, etc. just ask

Normaly we have 2 servers up but one was with con ( we forgot he had it ) and the other one had a password on it that none of us could remember. BUT there is no such thing as to many servers so we will be in contact b4 the next lan

If anyone actually knows the password for the Linux server, please tell us...

yeh i know there wasnt much notice to the LAN and thats ok cause i got to go. This was my last LAN and i was shocked to see so few ppl there.

I'm still having issues with putting names to faces to nicknames. Yeah so was I!!! not quite sure how many times i called you Paradoxian Tim :P. I must also convey my disgust at that lack of ppl at this lan! like wtf ppl there were tables and chairs set up everywhere and yet no one showed up! Im not sure if it was a problem in spreading the word, or that it was that ppl just suck! but it was very disappointing... especially ppl that said they would come but ended up no showing... *cough* *cough* kenny cough* Anyway, i fully support sticklan and its organisers; "truly they are gods among us mere mortals, to give up their time for lame ass nerds like you to have an enjoyable lan that no one turns up for". i say to you ppl "BURN IN HELL WITH YOUR CRAPPY COMPUTERS". I for one expected a bigger turnout, StickLAN 3 had HEAPS of people compared to StickLAN 2, and that was massive in it's own respect. Methinks we need to invite more of our friends... I will be away in Jan, holiday in QLD with the family. Not sure of dates, and I'll be at Schoolies in late Nov. ...Seriously, It's a simple question: "Are you coming to StickLAN on <insert date>?", Yes or No. People who can't answer a question like this accurately NEED to be punished.
